Reporting Bullying - What Can You Do?

Reporting a bullying incident should not be seen as ‘dobbing’. No one has the right to cause another person to be unhappy or feel unsafe. If a situation is causing distress and it cannot be resolved seek assistance because the sooner you do, the more likely the issue will be resolved.

Follow one of these strategies:

  • Speak to an adult you trust such as a teacher or a parent
  • Email the Leader of Student Wellbeing, or a Year Leader using the first name.surname@dbb.catholic.edu.au
  • Report directly to the Year Leader or the Leader of Student Wellbeing
  • Report on the annual safe school and peer relationship survey

What Can Parents Do?

  • Encourage your daughter to bring home her friends so you can get to know her social circle
  • Have open discussions about how your daughter can best deal with conflict in an assertive but non-aggressive manner
  • Look for the tell-tale signs such as not wanting to attend school, a decline in academic performance, loss of self-confidence, loss of interest in social events
  • If you are concerned ring your daughter’s Year Leader or the Leader of Student Wellbeing we are here to help
  • Monitor your daughter’s use of the internet and mobile phone

Staff at the college are committed to working together with parents and students for a safe and harmonious school environment where all are welcomed, respected and valued.
