Representative Sport
Representative Sport and Extracurricular Activities Support Policy
All sports at the Broken Bay Diocesan level require a selection process. This takes place via team trials at St Joseph’s, open to all students. Students are then required to follow a selection pathway to higher representation.
Sports that do not require college selection but require nomination to trial or compete include:
- CCC: basketball, cricket, netball, diving, golf, water polo, volleyball, softball, tennis & hockey
Some of the above sports do have specific requirements and/or levels of achievement to trial. - NSW All Schools: athletics, rowing, sailing and triathlon
- Nationals: orienteering
Some of the above sports do have specific requirements and/or levels of achievement to trial.

Swimming and Athletics Carnivals
Traditionally our annual swimming and athletic carnivals are energetic and colourful community events. All students are required to attend and the participation rate is outstanding.
Once at the venue all students dress up in House themes which ensures a very colourful “carnival” atmosphere. At St Joseph’s there are 6 houses – Barnes, Carroll, Dewey, Lonergan, Raftery and Tacey.
Staff and student house leaders ensure all girls are well drilled in their chants and cheers which create an electrifying atmosphere.
From these carnivals a team is selected to represent St Joseph’s at BBSSSA level.
